India’s popular singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh is currently making waves on the internet after his recent interview. The Lungi Dance Singer opened up about several things including his highly publicized divorce from Shalini Talwar, and his addiction and career fluctuations. The couple divorced in 2023 after reaching a settlement. He admitted that the separation didn’t affect him much, and instead he started getting better.
Singer-rapper Honey Singh’s life had several ups and downs in both personal and professional fronts. Recently, in an interview with Mashable India, the popstar shared how his divorce didn’t affect him negatively but surprisingly contributed to his better health. “Meri dawaai kum hui and uske baad main theek hua. (My medicines reduced, and after that I started getting better)," Singh revealed. Honey Singh and Shalini Talwar were granted divorce by the Delhi court after they reached a mutual settlement in November 2023.
The 41-year-old singer opened up about his separation and disclosed that the marital separation didn’t affect him much emotionally, perhaps due to the sudden events. In fact, his health started to get better as his need for the medications reduced with less visible symptoms.
“Jab mera separation hua, uske baad main theek hona shuru hua hu, uske baad meri dawaai kum hui hai (I started feeling better after my separation. My medication reduced),” the Dope Shope singer added.
Honey Singh tied the knot with Shalini in January 2011, but after his career soared and he spiralled into drug abuse, their relationship started to deteriorate. During the tough phase in his marriage life, Honey Singh recalled sharing his troubles with close friend and confidante Sonakshi Sinha. When the duo was shooting in Los Angeles, it was Sonakshi who shared insightful thoughts about marriage and its purpose to help Singh cope with the stress.
He further added that Sonakshi was not even married then, but her maturity and understanding of the relationships are truly commendable. So, when Sonakshi married this year, the Angrezi Beat singer was happily reminiscing about their meaningful conversation.
