Hoichoi's Bangladeshi web series Taqdeer helmed by Syed Ahmed Shawki, premiered on the platform in December 2020. The series has brought glory to the filmmaker and the creative team by clinching the award for the Best Regional Web series of the year in the ‘gold’ category in the prestigious Promax India Award.

The Daily Star reports that there was stiff competition with other titles from ZEE5 Global, Hotstar, Alt Balaji, Hotstar and Taqdeer eventually made the cut as the winner. Comprising eight episodes, the show features a talented cast - Chanchal Chowdhury, Manoj Pramanik, Sanjida Preety, Partha Barua and Sohel Mondal Rana among others.

The director is overjoyed at the feat and told the portal that he is happy for the cast and crew, who put in tireless work to bring the story to the world. Chanchal Chowdhury, who is known for his performance in Monpura and Aynabaji, was well-appreciated for his awesome act in the series. He said that it is a matter of ‘immense pleasure’ for him to know that people around him have liked their work. He also called Taqdeer a 'trendsetter' production for OTT platforms, as it stuck to telling the ‘original story’, not following ‘foreign format.’

Sakib R Khan, the Hoichoi Bangladesh head said that it is a ‘surreal moment’ to have Taqdeer acknowledged and recognised at the Promax Indian Digital Reinvent awards. He added that it was a moment of pride to see a ‘story born out of the heartland of Dhaka’ being nominated with the best Indian titles on a global platform Promax.

Taqdeer was well-received by critics and the audiences alike. People struck a chord with the story of the show. It is about a freezer van driver in Dhaka whose world falls apart when he finds a dead body tucked in his van.
