What is Higuita all about?

Suraj Venjaramoodu, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Manoj K Jayan, Indrans, Vineeth Kumar, and Binu Pappu are among the main cast members in the movie, which hit the big screen on March 31 last year. The movie made headlines when N S Madhavan contested the movie's title. Higuita is another name for the renowned writer's short story, and the author claimed that the political drama had stolen his idea to turn his short story into a movie.

Pannyannoor Mukundhan, a left-leaning politician from the Malabar region who is frequently threatened with death, is the film's central character. After recently joining the police, Ayyapa Das, a civil police officer, is assigned to serve as this politician's gunman. Because of the impending financial crisis, Das was compelled to assume this responsibility after his father passed away while he was still employed. The way in which the film told the story of disputes between others at work was highly praised.

Other Malayalam OTT releases

On June 6, Dhyan's most recent film, Varshangalkku Shesham, became streamable on SonyLIV. Starting on July 5, the same platform will also offer Malayalee From India, another latest movie in which the actor played a prominent role. The film's lacklustre box office performance and the mixed reviews it garnered after its theatrical debut make it reasonable to believe that these factors contributed to the OTT release's delay.

Meanwhile, other May releases Nadikar, Turbo and Thalavan are also expected to made their digital debut soon on platforms – Netflix and SonyLIV. Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is now available on Disney+ Hotstar as well as on Manorama Max and Simply South for those residing outside India. Suraj Venjaramoodu’s upcoming web series, Nagendran’s Honeymoon, will also be accessible on Disney+ Hotstar.
