Ashwin Babu, who rose to prominence with the three-part Raju Gari Gadhi franchise, Genius and other films, is reinventing himself as an action hero with his upcoming film titled Hidimbha. Nandita Swetha plays the female lead in the film written and directed by Aneel Kanneganti. The makers of the film have confirmed that it would now hit theatres on July 20.

“Mark your calendars Bold & Red. #Hidimbha WW grand release on July 20th. History is always a mystery,” the team tweeted and confirmed the release date today. The action thriller is bankrolled by Gangapatnam Sridhar under Sri Vignesh Karthik Cinemas (SVK Cinemas), in association with OAK Entertainments. Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainments, who was also associated with the recent hit Samajavaragamana, is the presenter.

Sanjay Swaroop, Vidyullekha Raman, Rajeev Kanakala, Rajeev Pillai and others too play significant roles in it. The film was censored earlier but received few objections from the board (for clearance) owing to a few high-voltage action sequences. After being reviewed by the committee, the changes were approved this week and the promotional campaign of the actioner is set to commence shortly.

Two songs from the film - Memories Memories and I am the bad guy - are out already and have garnered impressive views on Youtube and traction from several music streaming platforms. Popular music label Junglee Music has acquired its audio rights. Vikas Badisa is the music director for the same. The actioner’s top-notch crew comprises cinematographer B Rajasekhar, editor MR Varma, costume designer Mouna Gummadi, art director Sharmila Yalisetti and others.

The story revolves around a police officer who goes to any length to find a criminal who’s committing murders in an eccentric pattern. The action choreography, the pulsating background score and the technical finesse appear to be its USPs. Hidimbha, with its arrival on July 20, will lock horns with films like Annapurna Photo Studio, Her Chapter 1.
