Hi Nanna, Nani’s second release in the year where he’s paired opposite Mrunal Thakur, releases in theatres today amidst immense expectations. The film marks the directorial debut of Shouryuv, a former associate of RRR writer Vijayendra Prasad. The emotional drama, produced by Vyra Entertainments, has music by Hridayam, Kushi fame Hesham Abdul Wahab. Baby Kiara too has a crucial role to play.
A premiere show of Hi Nanna was held in Hyderabad yesterday for select celebrities and media and the brave move, to host a preview, has paid off. Beyond Nani and Baby Kiara, who were expected to steal the show, it’s Mrunal Thakur’s performance that has won over many film buffs. Many opined that it’s a fine directorial debut for Shouryuv. A few felt that the trailer and the teaser were strictly okay, but the movie is much better than what the promos suggest. The music works more on the big screen in the context of the narrative, another section shared.
Audiences are also in love with the interval twist in the film and have said the screenplay is intense and refreshing at once. The casting decisions, the treatment and the location are other major highlights of Hi Nanna, viewers mentioned. With strong word of mouth, Hi Nanna’s collections are expected to witness a jump by the noon shows. The response to the film from other language audiences is awaited.
Shruti Haasan, Angad Bedi, Jayaram and Priyadarshi are also part of the cast. Sanu John Varghese, who worked on Nani’s Jersey and Shyam Singha Roy earlier, is the cinematographer. Hi Nanna’s post-theatrical rights were reportedly bagged by Netflix.
