Here's why the Bharat Ratna for PV Narasimha Rao has increased the anticipation for Aha's series Half Lion

Telugu streaming giant Aha, which had announced Half Lion, the biopic series of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, is now receiving huge hype as the release date nears. Now that the former PM has been honoured with a Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, the anticipation surrounding the series has increased. The bilingual biopic series is based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Vinay Sitapati.
The series is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Prakash Jha and is currently in the pre-production stage. The series was officially announced in 2021.
More about Half Lion series
The two-minute-long trailer for Half Lion featured images of Rao with two other former Prime Ministers, Manmohan Singh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “Celebrating the most uncelebrated Prime Minister who rebuilt India,” is written in the opening half of the announcement video.
It further went on to state that Rao laid the foundation of a new India. The show is likely to look at Rao’s time as the Indian PM during the early 1990s. Director Prakash Jha is expected to explore how the former PM's influence affected the changing economic status of India.
The series is a one-of-a-kind pan-India web series that will be streamed in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. However, it appears that the series will be released exclusively on Aha, which usually streams only Telugu content.
A biopic film on PV Narasimha Rao
Interestingly, in 2022, Ajitha, the granddaughter of PV Narasimha Rao, announced that she would be directing and producing a biopic film of her late grandfather. Although it was announced that she was working on the film and that it was in its pre-production stage, the film has yet to materialise and is not expected to come out any time soon.
