Over the years, cinematographer and filmmaker Santosh Sivan has pushed the boundaries of Malayalam cinema through the concepts and making of his directorials. His latest movie Jack N Jill promises to be no different. On Tuesday, Malayalam star Mohanlal released the first look poster of the movie, starring Manju Warrier, Soubin Shahir and Kalidas Jayaram, through his social media page.

The poster, which has Manju dressed up as a goddess riding a scooter, is reflective of the experimental nature of the movie. Santosh in an interview with Kochi Times, a few years ago, had said that Jack N Jill is a blend of several genres and would provide “a unique experience” to the audience.

The movie, which is set in a rural backdrop, revolves around sci-fi concepts and uses the contrast between its setting and concept to tell the story. Mohanlal in a video shared along with the poster said that not many in Indian cinema has experimented with his work as much as Santosh has, and his “latest experiment” is Jack N Jill.

The superstar, who is currently working with Santosh for his directorial debut Barroz, also wished that the film becomes as popular as the cinematographer’s previous two Malayalam directorials – Urumi and Anandabhadram, both of which had Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead.

Incidentally, Prithviraj is also part of Jack N Jill, albeit as a narrator. The actor had recorded his portions in the movie back in May 2020. Apart from Manju Warrier, the movie also has Soubin Shahir, Kalidas Jayaram, Indrans, Basil Joseph, Esther Anil and the late actor Nedumudi Venu in pivotal roles.

Expected to release on May 20 this year, the film is co-produced by Gokulam Gopalan and Santosh Sivan, with Joy Movie Productions taking up its distribution. The movie also has a Tamil version titled Centimetre, which has Yogi Babu playing a pivotal character.
