The mixed response for Beast was something which many movie lovers didn't anticipate. The trailer of the Vijay-starrer and its first single, Arabic Kuthu, were instantly lapped up by the star's fans and other film buffs. However, the hostage thriller opened to mixed reviews from critics and the audience alike.

Though the movie managed to set the cash registers ringing in the five-day weekend, its performance at the box office fell short of expectations. Despite taking a huge opening in many territories like Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka on the first day, a notable dip was reported in the collection from day two.

The gargantuan response Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 received from across the country, too, affected the movie's prospects at the box office. Having said that, the action flick put up a decent performance in many places, thanks to Vijay's star power. The US is one major territory where the film's mixed response had little impact on its collection. Beast was released in around 500 locations, and was the second biggest release for a Tamil movie after Kabali.

Ahimsa Entertainment, which distributed the film in the country along with Hamsini Entertainment, took to social media to express happiness over Beast emerging as the star's numero uno movie there. They are now looking forward to the release of the star's next outing, which has been tentatively titled Thalapathy 66.

The Vamshi Paidipally-directorial is expected to release in theatres for Pongal 2023. The shooting of the film kicked off earlier this month with an official ceremony.

The distribution company is now geared up for the release of multi-starrer flick Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kadhal. They have bagged its theatrical rights in a few countries in Europe, including the UK.
