Speculations are rife that the release of Dhanush's film is getting pushed
After the success of Thiruchitrambalam and Naane Varuvean, Dhanush is awaiting the release of his next film, Vaathi, which is slated to hit screens in December. But speculations are rife that the release of Dhanush's film is getting pushed. Social media is abuzz with rumours about the film's release getting pushed to 2023. However, the team hasn't made an official announcement about the same and have confirmed the postponement of the release either.
Vaathi is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual (Sir in Telugu) and features Dhanush as a teacher called Balamurugan, who takes on the corrupt practices in the educational system and wants to reform learning. The shoot was wrapped a while ago and post production is going on. But we hear that the team needed some time on the post production, which might get the film's release pushed by a month or two.
The film is said to be set in the 1980s. Samyuktha Menon plays the leading lady, and will be teaming up with Dhanush for the first time. While GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music, cinematography is by J Yuvaraj. Editing is by Naveen Nooli. The supporting star cast includes Shrutika, P Saikumar, Samuthirakani, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, Rajendran, Hareesh Peradi and Praveena to name a few.
Dhanush, in the meantime, has moved on to his next project, Captain Miller, which is set to be a period film. The film is directed by Arun Matheswaran and has Priyanka Mohan, Sundeep Kishan, John Kokken as part of the star cast. Dhanush is sporting a long beard for his look and the title announcement poster had the actor sporting a mask and riding a bike. This is Dhanush's maiden collaboration with the Saani Kaayidham director, who had earlier directed Dhanush's elder brother, director Selvaraghavan in the revenge thriller. The video of the puja ceremony has already gone viral on social media.
