During the press conference for his most recent movie, Cheena Trophy, Dhyan Sreenivasan expressed how much he needed a break from acting. "I'm done with these movie promos, which is the main reason I need this break," he said.

"I never saw myself as a great actor from the start. Being a director was all I ever wanted." He went on, "I want to use this break to concentrate more on filmmaking.”

The actor, who debuted in the film industry with his brother Vineeth Sreenivasan's Thira, had a busy 2023 with seven releases, including Janaki Jaane, Higuita, and a cameo appearance in Achan Oru Vazha Vechu.

About Cheena Trophy

The actor described his latest film, Cheena Trophy, as a simple yet lovable family entertainer. “My previous film, Nadhikalil Sundari Yamuna, was a loud and exaggerated one. I believe that the audience can relate more to the characters in Cheena Trophy,” he said.

The film, directed by Anil Lal, also has Android Kunjapan-fame Kenti Sirdo, Jaffer Idukki, Sudheesh, Johnny Anthony, and renowned chef Suresh Pillai playing key roles. Devika Ramesh plays another female lead in this movie. Cheena Trophy Anoop Mohan, Lijo Ulahannan, and Ashlin Mary Joy have produced the film under the banner of Presidential Movies Private Limited.

The songs from Cheena Trophy, composed by Sooraj Santhosh, garnered a good reception from netizens. The film, which was initially announced to be released in October, hit the theatres on December 8.

Dhyan’s upcoming projects

Dhyan is currently working in Vineeth’s latest directorial, Varshangalkku Shesham, and Dileep-starrer Bha Bha Ba. He is in talks with directors for the sequel to one of his box office hits, Adi Kapyare Kootamani, and has a couple of other projects lined up for 2024.

The actor also revealed that he will be working on a few scripts to direct after a small break. He had made his directorial debut with Love Action Drama, starring Nivin Pauly, Nayanthara, and Aju Varghese. The film that was released in 2019 received mixed reviews but was a commercial box office hit.
