This year Netflix is all set to make its subscribers’ jaws drop with one after another striking content across the world. From shocking real-life documentaries, or returning with iconic series like - Bridgerton, Squid Game, Emily in Paris, Young Royals, and Rebel Moon Part 2, to some new projects like 3 Body Problem, Atlas, Damsel, Avatar: The Last Airbender, each and every content is ready to keep you hooked till the end of 2024.
However, Korean content is also not behind. From Queen of Tears, My Name is Loh Kiwan, Chicken Nugget to Doctor Slump, it seems like no other streaming giants can stand any chance this year. One of them is surely Parasyte: The Grey.

Based on the famous Japanese manga
For the unversed, Parasyte: The Grey is inspired by the popular Japanese manga - Parasyte, written by Hitoshi Iwaaki. The anime has sold over 25 million copies till now. Although not entirely based on the manga, the Korean live-action series promises to stay faithful to the storyline. The story revolves around Sun-In (Jeon So-Nee), who finds herself caught between humans and parasitic creatures. Those who have read the manga, won't be disappointed. Rather can feel more excited with some new twists and turns.

Parasyte: The Grey is directed by Yeon Sang-Ho, who gained immense popularity for Train to Busan (2016) and Hellhound (2021). Earlier the director mentioned that the audience can experience some divergent elements in the series, which are not written in the manga.
Not a typical K-drama
South Korean dramas typically consist of 16 episodes. Whether it's a thriller genre, romance drama, high-octane actions, emotional drama, comedy, or even educational, each and every drama contains at least 16 episodes. While Parasyte: The Grey takes liberties with Hitoshi Iwaaki's classic manga, the trailer hints at a show that captures the essence of the source material's body horror and science-fiction elements. Similar to the iconic opening scene of the anime, the trailer showcases the arrival of the parasitic aliens. These grotesque creatures, sporting drill-like heads, are depicted invading humans by burrowing through their skulls and seizing control of their brains. The trailer chillingly exhibits a specific method of infection, a parasite entering a human's ear, a shortcut to the brain depicted in the original anime.
Ruling the internet
Ever since the trailer dropped, Parasyte: The Grey took the internet by storm. It is currently one of the most awaited series on Netflix. While the teaser garnered more than 3 million views on YouTube, the trailer has garnered over 10K views within 48 hours. While recalling Once Piece’s immense success, netizens couldn't stop applauding Netflix for coming up with the live-action idea of Parasyte manga. Some of them even flooded praising the Korean industry for making an interesting balance between the Japanese manga and the live-action adaptation on YouTube.
