Hemanth M Rao has posted on social media that he has begun writing his next film; netizens have suggestions and speculations
In the year gone by, Kannada filmmaker Hemanth M Rao has been busy with his two-part Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which released in September and November respectively. The film got a fairly decent reception from audiences, with some absolutely loving the intense love story, while others felt that the pacing could have been better.
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello had found quite a fan following in other industries too, with filmmakers Karan Johar and Karthik Subbaraj naming it among their favourites of the year. Two months after Side B came out, Hemanth has finally hinted that he’s ready for his next venture. Even as audiences wait eagerly for Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B to drop on OTT, Hemanth has taken to social media to state that he’s begun writing his next, #5.
'Might be my next film': Sapta Sagardaache Ello director Hemanth M Rao hints at exciting venture
During the promotions of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, Hemanth had said that he foresees himself doing a finite number of films, say, 8-9 or a max of 10-15 in his lifetime as a filmmaker. The reason, he had said, is because there were 8-9 story ideas that he had when he started out as a filmmaker, of which he’s presented only 3 onscreen yet (even though SSE became two films). The plan, Hemanth added, was to ensure that he does films in every possible genre, except one – horror is not something he wants to explore, although he enjoys such films as a viewer.
Hemanth M Rao is a horror fan, but it’s a genre he won’t make a film in
While Hemanth has said that he will revisit the period detective thriller Tenali with Rakshit Shetty at some point, it is not clear what he will dabble with next. His social media post, though, evoked a lot of responses from fans, many of who had suggestions for the filmmaker. The background of Hemanth’s announcement features arrows, bows and armour, which prompted some to speculate that he was attempting something in mythology or fantasy. Considering that the filmmaker split his last into two films, some joked that he should just write one story and not stretch it to #6 also just because he thinks it’s turned out well.
