A trailer of the upcoming He-Man series was always on the cards since Netflix announced its ongoing Geeked week but by the power of Grayskull, very few would have expected it to be this good.
The trailer of actor-filmmaker Kevin Smith’s animated series titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation was unveiled on Day 4 of the Netflix event and gave us a fresh glimpse of all the characters of the He-Man universe that we have loved to hate including Skeletor and Evil-Lyn.
The series is packed with stars lending voice to these iconic characters, led by Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Chris Wood as Prince Adam/He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms and Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops.
Soon after the trailer debuted with Bonnie Tyler’s iconic anthem, Holding Out For a Hero, and montages of He-Man riding Battle Cat, the makers also revealed that the series is not a reboot but a continuation of the 80s animated series.
“Narratively, our show is set up as the next episode in the legacy ‘80s animated series that aired from 1983-1985. This is a continuation of that story. We’re playing with the original mythology and characters, and revisiting and digging deeper into some of the unresolved storylines,” he was quoted, in an article in The Verge.
The show will begin streaming on Netflix from July 23.
