Hellboy Turns 30! Here's where you can watch all the films Ft. Ron Perlman and David Harbour on streaming
Hellboy Turns 30
In the world of superheroes and their legends, there is an antihero, a borderline superhero who stands apart from the realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DCU characters. He resides in his own world and boasts a niche fanbase eagerly awaiting his return to the big screen, even if the gap between movies spans a decade. We are talking about Hellboy, the Right Hand Of Doom, who has been in the news recently. After the 2019 stint where David Harbour played the part, the makers have now moved on to Hellboy: The Crooked Man with Jack Kesy taking over. Additionally, there's more reason to celebrate, as it has now been thirty years since we first met the character in the comics.
For the uninitiated, Guillermo del Toro is often remembered as the father of Hellboy because he brought the Right Hand Of Doom to mainstream attention with his movies that took the character on a worldwide tour. However, before Guillermo discovered him, the unique superhero was written by Mike Mignola in the pages of Dark Horse Comics. The world was introduced to the character in 1994, marking thirty years of Hellboy's existence. To celebrate three decades, Dark Horse Comics has decided to release several exclusive items at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.
So far, the Hellboy franchise has witnessed three live-action movies with a fourth one in the making. Ron Perlman and David Harbour have both played the part and have been loved by fans. Jack Kesy is now taking over, though his first look has not impressed many. Nonetheless, we are yet to see the full film. Hellboy (2004) streams on JioCinema, Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) is available on Netflix, and Hellboy (2019) can be found on Lionsgate Play.

The universe also includes two Hellboy animated movies: Hellboy: Blood & Iron (2007) and Hellboy: Sword Of Storms (2006), both streaming on Lionsgate Play. These films are not part of the live-action world but are entertaining nonetheless. You can watch them on Lionsgate Play with your OTTplay Premium subscription.
Hellboy: The Crooked Man is directed by Brian Taylor and penned by creator Mike Mignola alongside Dark Horse Comic collaborator Chris Golden. The official synopsis for Hellboy: The Crooked Man reads, "Stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent discover a small community haunted by witches, led by the Crooked Man, a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy's past."
Creator Mike Mignola called The Crooked Man the best story, saying in a chat with Variety, "For years, we've been saying, if you're going to make a Hellboy movie, make it small. And the perfect story to do that with is my personal favorite, The Crooked Man. I think it's one of the best things I've ever written. It's beautifully illustrated by Richard Corben, and it's a solid story that doesn't involve a million different characters. Everybody actually agreed from the very beginning, Yes, we want to do that one."
