Hellbound director Yeon Sang-ho praises Squid Game: The vision it had within it, was very relatable

The South Korean dark fantasy series Hellbound may have dethroned Hwang Dong-hyuk's survival drama series Squid Game as the most popular TV show in the world, but the show's director Yeon Sang-ho has nothing but love for the survival drama series.

The show's vision appeals to the director. Yeon Sang-ho told Variety about the Hwang Dong-hyuk directed series that Squid Game was a lot of fun for him as well. He thought the idea it had for itself, as a genre drama, was accessible, and there were a lot of aspects of the series that he could identify with.

Both Hellbound and Squid Game he added, have their elements. Sang-ho added that it's all different depending on where those spots are in the show. He believes the Squid Game was able to connect with a large number of individuals.

In a final statement, Yeon makes a comparison between the two shows, saying that there's also the fun component of pulling inspiration from childhood games. He believes that, like Hellbound these are pieces that elicit a lot of active audience participation. He also believes that this is where both of their entertaining qualities originate.

However, a few people become sceptical of its operations and begin to look into its role in strange happenings.
