The veteran actor revealed that it was termed as "solo dances" during her era.
Helen and Bindu, two veteran Bollywood actors, are going to appear on Season 5 of the dance reality show DID L'il Masters. At the show, Helen shared her thoughts on item numbers during the show. She believes that labelling solo dances as such is demeaning and does not give them the respect they deserve.
Helen explained that during their time, they used to make a lot of mythological stories, and they used to insert dance sequences in between a few scenes, and they were called Solo Dances.
The name evolved as they went toward modern styles of dance with nightclub backdrops. Helen believes it is unattractive to refer to any song or actress as an "item number" or "item girl." Nobody is an item here, and everyone is a working professional, so it doesn't sound nice. The veteran actor believes they should avoid using the term "item" to refer to any actor or song.
Sonali Bendre, Mouni Roy, and Remo D'Souza are among the judges for DID L'il Masters 5 which is hosted by Jay Bhanushali. Zee TV broadcasts it.
Helen is all set to make her OTT debut, starring Karisma Kapoor in the lead role. Talking about the outing, the veteran actor told India Today that she is looking forward to making her OTT debut. It's a natural progression for Helen as an actor to experiment with this new medium. The actor's love has always been dance and acting, so the medium doesn't matter. She is excited to start shooting for it as soon as possible.
Helen has been absent from the screen for almost a decade. She was last seen in Heroine starring Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role. Anamika, Khandan, Cha Cha Cha, Half Ticket, China Town, Heera, Benaam, and Geeta Mera Naam are among the legendary actor's many hits.
