The neo-noir thriller is directed by Abhinay Deo.
Helen, the veteran performer, is poised to make a comeback in Abhinay Deo's new drama series, Brown. The 83-year-old veteran actor was last seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine and has since disappeared from the screen. This Neo-Noir crime drama, which marks the veteran actor's comeback, is set in the busy city of Kolkata and promises to be a good watch. Brown: The First Case is based on the book City of Death by Abheek Barua. Karisma Kapoor and Surya Sharma play crucial roles in the drama series.
Helen states to IANS, when asked about taking on the role, that when she was originally approached, the team provided her with clarity and certainty regarding her role, which put her at ease. The actor empathises with this persona, and she intends to return to the set simply to have fun.
When asked about the current content lane of the industry, Helen revealed that she was concerned looking at how things have changed since she was last seen on screen. But having watched the transformation, it is all positive and is, in fact, intriguing to say the least, for this is a space she has never experienced before.
Howrah Bridge gave Helen her first break when she was 19 years old. The seasoned actor has appeared in more than 700 films.
Meanwhile, Karisma, who plays a detective in the film, said she is excited to portray a ferociously strong woman in an exciting plot. She also said that Brown is the type of story that is both intriguing and hard for any actor, which is exactly what drew her to audition for the part. She can't wait to start shooting.
According to Deo, the project is an original character study. Brown is a beautifully written narrative that allows him to explore further the human mind and relationships.
