In a new clip shared on Instagram, the makers of Heeramandi gave a fascinating glimpse into one of the courtesan's lives. On Friday, the social media handle of Netflix shared a captivating teaser clip starring Sanjeeda Shaikh as Waheeda. She is seen speaking about her dilemmas and the battle to find redemption beyond the exterior physical attributes of beauty.
Sanjeeda as Waheeda shares her emotional dilemma and crisis after an incident that changed her life forever while looking into her reflection in the mirror. In the video, Waheeda narrates her tale of changing perspectives after getting a “scar,” which ultimately soiled or scarred her fate too.
“My voice was unrivalled, as was my beauty. Every mirror would yearn for just a glance of Waheeda. But little did I know a single scar would scar my fate forever,” Waheeda says while unveiling her scarred face.
Actress Sanjeeda Shaikh looks stunning in the character of Waheeda, as she wears royal and traditional clothes with ethnic jewellery and henna, which showcases her character as a courtesan.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming web series is spearheaded by a star-studded ensemble including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal in prominent roles. The plot revolves around courtesans and their rivalries as they navigate freedom and power against the backdrop of British rule or pre-Independent India. It also stars Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and others in pivotal roles.
