Heartbreak High began as a soft reboot of the 1994 series for teenage kids but soon developed into a captivating narrative featuring late teens navigating the murky waters of high school romances, teen angst, racial tensions, and identity in this Australian comedy drama. While season 1 debuted on Netflix in 2022, season 2 arrives in summer 2024. Created by Hannah Carroll Chapman, the new season will stream on OTT this summer.
Heartbreak High Season 2 release date and trailer
Heartbreak High Season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix starting April 11. A trailer from the show was released earlier today and it offers an intriguing glimpse of the adventures lying ahead for Amerie and Harper, along with their group of friends. The series makes a compelling case for inclusivity, featuring LGBTQ2+ characters, autistic individuals, as well as a cross-section of society.
Heartbreak High Season 2: What to expect
While season 1 was mostly spent connecting with the characters and resolving Amerie and Harper’s friendship, season 2 will feature more developments in terms of drama, characters, and storyline. A new season usually indicates the addition of new faces, and Heartbreak High Season 2 does not disappoint with the addition of new teachers, hot students, and a mysterious hater cum assailant.
The latter is stalking Amerie, intent on ruining her public image forever. The new trailer offers an intriguing season 2 ahead, with Quinni making a long list of people who hate Amerie so that the group can figure out who is so viciously after her. But since Amerie has angered a lot of people with the Sex Map and its ensuing Sexual Literacy Tutorial classes, it may be hard to find out the evildoer.
As for romance, Amerie, Malakai and new student Rowan will be embroiled in a steamy love triangle, while Darren must learn to keep it in their pants. The brutal run for the school captain is on, and a new P.E. teacher is intent on running things the right way now to improve Hartley High’s reputation as the ‘lowest ranking school in the district’.
And amidst all this, there are more mishaps, parties, romances, and viral videos than ever. Will Amerie discover who is her hater, and more importantly, will she and Malakai patch things up or will their casual hookups eventually fizzle out what could have been a great relationship? The answer comes on April 11, 2024.
