Anushka Shetty’s character from Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer

We had earlier reported that actor Anushka Shetty will be making her Malayalam debut with the upcoming film Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer, which will feature Jayasurya in the lead role. Now, on Thursday, on the occasion of Anushka’s birthday, the makers of the film unveiled her character poster, on social media.

Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer is an upcoming Malayalam film, which is billed to be a fantasy thriller. The film is headlined by Jayasurya and is directed by filmmaker Rojin Thomas, who has earlier made Home. On Thursday, to celebrate Anushka Shetty’s birthday, the makers of Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer unveiled her character look from the film.

The character teaser begins with interesting visuals, of warps and wefts of threads being fed into a weaving machine. Soon, we see Anushka's character appear through the weave. She plays the role of Nila, and we can expect that she plays a weaver in the film. Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer marks Anushka’s debut in the Malayalam film industry.

Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer is penned by R Ramanand and produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner Sree Gokulam Movies. Apart from Anushka and Jayasurya, the film will also feature Prabhu deva and Vineeth in prominent roles.

Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer's technical crew consists of Rahul Subrahmanian scoring the background score, while Neil D'Cunha is the cinematographer. As per reports, the film is based on the story of legendary Christian priest Kadamattathu Kathanar who lived during the 9th century. The film will be released in two parts.

The director expressed his confidence about the 3D fantasy film he is trying to make in an exclusive interview with OTTplay, which is a rare accomplishment in Malayalam. Computer-generated imagery and motion capture are used to virtually produce the movie. A release date of the film is yet to be announced.
