Actor Ajith Kumar, fondly known as AK, is celebrating his birthday on May 1 (today). With scores of fans eagerly waiting for his upcoming films Vidaa Muyarchi and Good Bad Ugly, to hit the big screens, it is the perfect time to revisit Ajith-starrer Mankatha, which proved to be a commercial blockbuster at the time of release. For the occasion of his birthday, SunNXT will be streaming the film for free from May 1 to May 5.

Mankatha free on SunNXT
Directed by filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, Mankatha released in 2011 and is an action thriller. The film marked Ajith's 50th film and starred an ensemble cast, including actors Arjun, Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Andrea Jeremiah, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vaibhav, Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra, Jayaprakash, Aravind Akash and Subbu Panchu.
To celebrate the actor’s birthday, SunNXT, which houses the film, has announced that it will be available for free streaming from May 1-5. The film revolves around a suspended cop who meets a group of men intending to steal a lumpsum amount from a gangster and promises to help them given he gets a share. At a time when superstars are sceptical about doing negative shades, Ajith's portrayal of a corrupt police officer was not only a daring choice but also one of the highlights of the story that made it run for weeks together in theatres. In addition, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s score also served as a major plus point to the film’s success.

Ajith’s two projects
Ajith is currently working in Vidaa Muyarchi with filmmaker Magizh Thirumeni. The film will be an action thriller produced by Lyca Productions and have Anirudh Ravichander score music for it. Meanwhile, Ajith will also collaborate with filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran for Good Bad Ugly, another action thriller which is set to go on floors in June. The film is eyeing release in January 2025 for Pongal.
