Varun Dhawan recently claimed in an interview that Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor is the one who created a parallel film movement.
It's been almost six years since Harsh Vardhan Kapoor decided to break the mould in show business with his unconventional choice of roles and productions. The actor made his debut with Mirzya back in 2016, which was a Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial. During a recent interaction with The Times of India, Harsh was asked if he feels a certain feeling of vindication about the decisions he has taken so far. People are seeing performers who take the plunge and experiment in a variety of films.
The actor told the portal that he is pleased that a certain segment of the audience has consistently shown admiration for his work on Mirzya, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, AK vs. AK or Spotlight (Ray). He has always been patient and picky. Harsh doesn't mind holding out till the proper project presents itself. He got good reviews for Thar, his most recent release, which he also produced. The international media gave him excellent evaluations as well. Additionally, there was a lot of goodwill on social media and he had no room for improvement. A comment like this has undoubtedly served as some sort of validation for him, and it also provides reassurance that the audience is prepared for this type of content.
Harsh further said that today, one can play with content in ways that weren't possible ten years ago. Filmmakers can see for themselves that he has chosen a different path based on his project selection. Some filmmakers have praised his decisions and him. His decisions are unpredictable to others, and there is no plan or strategy in the sense that this is what excites him about it.
Varun Dhawan recently claimed in an interview that Harsh is the one who created a parallel film movement. Thus, the JugJugg Jeeyo actor received backlash on social media.
The Thar actor said that nowadays, individuals merely rant on the internet because they have nothing better to do than make fun of famous people. They are unaware of Varun Dhawan's sense of humour and he makes tongue-in-cheek jokes. Harsh shared that he probably meant that he has been making unconventional and alternative movies. He only phrased his claim in the manner he did, and now he has people waiting to tear him down on social media.
The actor said that it was quite encouraging of Varun to say that, especially coming from someone who has been in the business a lot longer than he has. His remarks have given him a lot of comfort. However, Harsh doesn't believe what he does is parallel cinema.
He believes he makes extremely typical movies. Simply put, his films depart slightly from the standard Bollywood masala structure. They aren't "parallel movies," just regular movies that anyone can watch and comprehend, so that doesn't mean they are.
