Harish Kalyan wears the tag of being the first hero of ace cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni's maiden film production like a badge of honour. The film, LGM (Let's Get Married), bankrolled by Dhoni Entertainment and helmed by Ramesh Thamilmani, is all set to hit screens on July 28. LGM is billed as a feel-good romantic comedy, and Harish Kalyan shares screen space with actresses Nadiya Moidu and Ivana.

The actor, who was recently in Coimbatore for the promotions of the film, said that he considered himself lucky to be part of Dhoni's maiden venture. "I feel lucky to be part of Thala's first film. It's a huge honour and I am extremely happy about it. No matter how many films Thala makes in future, I will have the credit of being the hero of his very first movie."

Giving a sneak peek of LGM, Harish says, "The film deals with a universal problem, which is being told in a fun manner. I play a youngster who gets sandwiched between his mother and his girlfriend. In normal circumstances, when you go and tell your mother that you like this person, she would react in a certain way. Here things pan out completely differently. And imagine taking them on a trip together! The concept was conceived by Sakshi ma'am. Ramesh (Thamilmani) penned the same into a screenplay, infusing it with some fun-filled elements and emotional moments. Like Thala stated during the film's audio launch, this is a film that you can watch with your entire family."

That said, Harish adds that LGM is not a romantic comedy alone. "There are different song combinations, too. For instance, I have a song with Ivana, Nadiya ma'am has one with Ivana titled Is Kis Kifa, which is based on Kiliki language with lyrics by Madhan Karky. There is a travel song and a montage as well. Many senior actors have worked in the film, including Kathadi Ramamoorthy, Janaki amma, and Mohan Vaidya sir, who plays Ivana's father. The set was a laugh riot."

When quizzed if Dhoni has made a special appearance in LGM and pat comes the reply. "No! But he spoke to each of us personally after watching the film. Of course, he watched LGM (the film is releasing in Tamil and Telugu) with subtitles, but since he was aware of the script, he enjoyed it thoroughly. After the movie, he told me, "I love my mother. So I am cognizant of the situation that you are in.' He added that he liked my character.  To Ivana, he jovially said that she was trying to create ripples between mother and son. Dhoni is someone who doesn't step in unless he understands the subject well."

Considering that Harish Kalyan's career trajectory predominantly comprises boy-next-door roles, is he trying to break out of the mold any time soon? "See, Dharala Prabhu was different, my upcoming film Parking is very different. Diesel is an action film. It all depends on the characters that come my way and the kind of roles that people enjoy. When different characters fall into my kitty, I will definitely take up different roles."

Is Harish Kalyan still in touch with his Bigg Boss housemates? "Some of them, yes. But I must admit that the show gave a huge fillip to my career and if I have got a small space in the industry today, it's because of the love and support of the people. There is a lot to prove as an actor going ahead."
