Hari's Arun Vijay-starrer action flick, Yaanai, announces theatrical release date

The makers of Hari's Yaanai were planning to release the film in February, but the outbreak of fourth wave of COVID spoiled their plans. They have now come up with an official theatrical release date for the first time. The action flick will be hitting the screens on May 6.

Arun Vijay, who is teaming up with Hari for the first time in his career, took to Twitter to share the excitement. He tweeted, It's confirmed!! #Yaanai in theatres from May 6th!! (sic)." The teaser of the project was unveiled a couple of months ago which had the actor seen bashing up baddies.

Samuthirakani, Radhika Sarath Kumar, Imman Annachi, Ammu Abirami, Bose Venkat and Yogi Babu among others play important characters in the movie which has Priya Bhavani Shankar essaying the female lead. Yaanai brings together Arun Vijay and Priya after Karthick Naren's Mafia (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).

Actor-filmmaker Gangai Amaren has donned the greasepaint after a long time to play an astrologer's role in the film. GV Prakash has composed music for the project which has been bankrolled by Vedikkaranpatti S Sakthivel under Drumsticks Productions. Gopinath and Anthony have handled the film's cinematography and editing respectively.

Anl Arasu has composed action scenes, while Baba Baskar and Dhina have jointly choreographed dance moves for the movie. Arivazhagan's Borrder was supposed to be the first release of Arun Vijay post the COVID phase. But the movie's release was postponed from November.

Yaanai will be the actor's release after more than two years. He has GNR Kumaravelan's Sinam, Naveen's Agni Siragugal, Sarov Shanmugham's Oh My Dog and Vivek's Boxer in his kitty. Oh My Dog, which is expected to drop in March or April, will have a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video.
