The actor stated that the Ulaganayagan has been his guru all his working life, even if it meant from a distance
Actor Siddharth, who is sharing screen space with his mentor and guru Kamal Haasan for the first time in Indian 2, has penned a heartfelt note on the Ulaganayagan's birthday. Siddharth shared a picture with Kamal Haasan and wrote that the veteran actor has been his guru all his working life, even if it meant from a distance. He also stated that it was finally a privilege to call himself a co-actor along with Kamal Haasan.
Siddharth wrote on his social media handle, "My favourite actor since I was a baby. My guru from a distance my whole working life. It has taken me 20 years as an actor to finally earn the privilege of calling you my CO-ACTOR, my INDIAN forever! Thank you for everything Kamal sir.
Hopefully I will earn more of your love, kindness, wisdom and guidance as your follower this coming year. Happy Birthday Greatest! #KamalHaasan #GreatestEver."
Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam had announced their comeback film after a span of 35 years. The last time they had teamed up for a film was the 1987 film Nayakan, which became a landmark in both the director and the actor's career. Siddharth added, "P.S - my teachers Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan are coming back together. As a student, this is an all time high for me! Can't wait to see what the OG dreamers of Tamil Cinema create for the world to marvel at (sic)."
It is to be noted that Siddharth had worked as an assistant director in Mani Ratnam's Kannathil Muthamittal (2002), which had Madhavan, Simran and Nandita Das in the lead. The film was a musical war film based on a short story by Sujatha Amuthavun Avanum. The plot revolved around a Sri Lankan child who is adopted by Indian parents and her desire to meet her biological mother during the Sri Lankan civil war.
