HanuMan director Prasanth Varma clarifies - respect for Allu Arjun, Jr NTR but content comes first

The box office success of HanuMan has given director Prasanth Varma the confidence that he doesn't need a star to sell tickets as long as he crafts compelling content.

Filmmaker Prasanth Varma is basking in the success of his latest movie HanuMan. Released during the Sankranti holiday, the film has elevated him to a different league, giving him the confidence that he doesn't need a star to sell tickets as long as he crafts compelling content.

In a recent interview, Prasanth Varma discussed how he had "wasted time" waiting for big Telugu stars to collaborate with him. He disclosed that he had approached Jr NTR, Allu Arjun, and Ram Charan in the past. Fans of these superstars connected the dots, leading to some seemingly unfavourable conclusions.

This comment stirred outrage among fans, prompting Prasanth to issue a clarification. He emphasized that he meant no disrespect to the stars, while urging a section of the media to refrain from spreading rumours.

"Nicely articulated but FYI, I didn’t mention any name of our beloved stars, I respect them very much and know them very personally, I would love to do a film with them any time if right script comes!! PLEASE I KINDLY REQUEST to STOP spreading fake rumours :))) Thank you," the director said in a statement.

Content comes first, stars or no stars

A few days ago, Prasanth revealed how he used to approach big stars with scripts, patiently awaiting their responses, which unfortunately never materialized. “I’m not against working with stars. Usually with stars, it takes time. I spent a lot of time waiting for a couple of stars. I wasted a lot of my time. So after that, I’ve decided, okay, let’s just have a deadline. So after this deadline, even if Tom Cruise comes to me, I should just go ahead with whoever I have. I didn’t come into the industry to work with stars," he said during a recent interview.

Prasanth also revealed that following the massive success of HanuMan he has received a lot of offers from Bollywood. However, he confirmed that he was in no mood to entertain them, noting that he had already mapped out the lineup for his upcoming films.

Prasanth will soon start the production of the seual to HanuMan, titled Jai Hanuman.
