The makers are planning to wrap up the ambitious project in April,
Kannan and Hansika
Director Kannan has recently completed the shooting of The Great Indian Kitchen and Kasethan Kadavulada, which are remakes of films which were released under the same title. While the former, a Malayalam film, released in 2021, the latter, a Tamil movie, released in 1972.
His next, starring Hansika in the lead, has gone on floors now. Billed as a sci-fi horror comedy, Kannan himself is bankrolling the project, apart from writing the screenplay and directing it. According to an article in TOI, the actress plays a scientist in the movie. She will be seen essaying Nethra, a young, determined woman.
The makers are planning to rope in a popular star to play Hansika’s romantic interest in the untitled movie. The director said that there will be elements of fantasy and ample comedy, too, in the film. The team is planning to wrap up the project in two month's time.
Kannan said, "If everything goes well, the shooting will be completed in April. We have erected a huge set of a lab in the city outskirts. Art director Crawford is at the helm of affairs. The film will rely on VFX for several crucial portions in it."
The makers are eyeing a theatrical release on August 15. The director also added that the team had many script reading sessions so as to make the crew familiar with the screenplay and dialogues.
Kabilan Vairamuthu has been roped in to write lyrics for the movie which has M Balasubramaniem on board as its cinematographer. Sidharth Subhavenkat, a former assistant director of Kannan, is penning dialogues for the film. The director also revealed that the team will finalize on its music composer only after its shooting. Meanwhile, Hansika has half-a-dozen films in her kitty, including the long-pending Maha.
