Hansal Mehta is creating a show titled Gandhi based on the life of the Father Of The Nation starring Partik Gandhi in the lead.
As we celebrate the birth anniversary of the Father Of The Nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi today, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has taken this moment to make a massive announcement about his upcoming show Gandhi. The filmmaker has been busy creating, writing, and directing the show based on the young days of the iconic figure that shaped the history of India. The show marks his reunion with his Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story actor Pratik Gandhi.
While everything about the show is fascinating and that has made it one of the most anticipated shows on the India streaming space, the team has now welcomed Oscar Award Winning Music Maestro AR Rahman on board. Rahman will be incharge to create the musical score for their much anticipated show. This takes the entire game notches higher. Read on to know everything you should about the same.
Gandhi is adapted from historian Ramchandra Guha’s books Gandhi Before India and Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World, 1914-1948. The first season of three captures the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in the formative years as a law student in London and later as a civil rights activist in South Africa. It was during this period where the seed for Independence of India was sown in the heart of Mahatma Gandhi. The second and the third season are going to cover the rest of his life.
Now as AR Rahman comes on board, we know there is going to be a musical genius on the panel making Gandhi even more worth watching than it already is. As per Variety, talking about joining the show, Rahman said, “Watching Gandhi-ji’s younger life is a revelation — his experiments with truth, life, and so many other things show the evolution of his character. I am deeply honored to be scoring the music for this story, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment and under the articulate direction of Hansal Mehta.”
Hansal Mehta on bringing AR Rahman onboard said, “’Gandhi’ is a deeply human retelling of M.K. Gandhi’s life story, a story that continues to inspire generations. Having A.R. Rahman join us on this journey is truly a dream come true. His music has the unique ability to elevate storytelling and for a project of this scale and significance, we couldn’t think of anyone better to bring the emotional and spiritual nuances of Gandhi’s life to the forefront.”
Gandhi stars Pratik Gandhi, Bhamini Oza, Tom Felton, Steven Peace, Luke Mably, in leading roles and will stream on SonyLIV. There is no release date attached to the show as of yet.
