Gyeongseong Creature Part 2 will be debuting on Netflix on January 5, 2024. Part 1 of the much-anticipated Kdrama dropped in the last week of December, and generated quite a buzz for its lush, period ambience set in an apocalyptic Gyeongseong (the former name for Seoul). The year is 1945 and the Japanese rule the area with a tough, colonial fist.
But even their reach is limited in a dystopic town’s hospital, on which the story is centered, Ongseong Hospital. Written by Kang Eun Kyung of Dr. Romantic, the mystery thriller series fuses different genres to form a more-or-less wholesome structure that is intriguing and enchanting.
Gyeongseong Creature is set in 1945 Gyeongseong and focuses on the unlikely alliance formed between the city’s wealthiest entrepreneur, Jang Tae Sang, who manages all of its under-the-radar activities but is currently in hot soup due to a conflict with the police commissioner, and detective sleuth Yoon Chae Ok, who helps her father track down missing people.
Tae Sang and Chae Ok partner up for mutual benefits but soon bond firmly, while their investigation brings them to the heavily guarded and mysterious Ongseong hospital, in which few people can gain entry and return alive. Now, it is upon them to enter the hospital with their team, thanks to Tae Sang’s connections, and return alive, preferably with Chae Ok’s mother and other missing people.
Gyeongseong Creature Part 1, comprising of 7 episodes, ended with Chae Ok and Tae Sang getting everyone out of the hospital’s basement, except Chae Ok’s mother and Tae Sang himself. The irony? Our brave protagonist will have to fight to survive the Gyeongseong Creature as well as the lurking Najin parasite till he can get out, or else, succumb to a brutal and painful demise.

The answer lies in Part two of Gyeongseong Creature, which comprise the final three episodes of Season 1.
