The most-anticipated period flick's shooting is underway at a brisk pace
GV Prakash and Vikram
The news of Vikram joining hands with Pa Ranjith for Thangalaan was received with much excitement by movie buffs. Billed as a period flick which is set in the 19th century, it revolves around several workers from Tamil Nadu who worked in Kolar Gold Fields during British rule.
Ranjith himself had revealed a couple of pictures of Vikram from the location, leaving the latter's fans excited a while ago. Now, GV Prakash, the movie's music director, has come up with an update for the hardcore admirers of Vikram.
The musician-turned-actor has said that he has completed recording two songs for the movie and that he is elated about the manner in which they have turned out. Further, he informed that he has attempted at infusing an international tribe genre into the songs, something which has done for the first time.
His tweet read, "Super excited about the way #thangalaan audio is coming. Finished Recording two songs. Come out with an international tribal mix of audio which is unique for me I haven’t tried it before .Super excited (sic)." This has elevated the expectations surrounding the movie.
Gnanavel Raja is bankrolling the project under Studio Green. Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan play key roles in the film which has cinematography and editing being handled by Kishore Kumar and RK Selva respectively. Thangalaan is one of the most-awaited Tamil movies of 2023.
This will be Vikram's second movie to be released this year; his first outing will be Ponniyin Selvan 2 which is hitting the screens on April 28. Ranjith's previous film Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, despite opening to huge reviews from critics, couldn't make any impact at the box office. The filmmaker has pinned high hopes on Thangalaan's commercial prospects.
