GV Prakash is the frontrunner to compose music for Vikram, Pa Ranjith's untitled project

Producer Gnanavel Raja had announced a few months ago that Vikram's next project will have Pa Ranjith at the helm. He also posted a couple of pictures of the three of them posing together for photos. Tentatively titled Chiyaan 61, the details of other cast and crew were said to be announced later.

However, there have been unofficial reports doing the rounds that Santhosh Narayanan, who has been a regular in Ranjith's films, will not be composing music for the untitled film. The names of Anirudh and GV Prakash surfaced online with respect to composing music for the project.

At an award ceremony which was held the other day in Chennai, Ranjith said that he is currently in talks with GV Prakash for a movie, though he didn't reveal further about the film. But movie lovers and industry insiders are almost sure that the duo is teaming up for Chiyaan 61 and are gung-ho about their collaboration.

Interestingly, Santhosh Narayanan was the composer for both Vikram and Ranjith's previous outings, Mahaan and Sarpatta Parambarai respectively. Both the films skipped theatrical release and had a direct release on Amazon Prime Video.

Ranjith has already completed Natchathiram Nagargirathu which has Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan and Kalaiyarasan playing lead roles, while Vikram has the long-pending action flick Dhruva Natchathiram directed by Gautham Menon awaiting a release. A while ago, there were reports that the much-awaited movie might release in theatres around July this year.

However, there weren't official updates from its makers. Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan and Ajay Gnanamuthu's revenge drama Cobra are other movies of Vikram which will release in theatres this year. The former will hit the screens on September 30, while a final update on the latter's release date is awaited.
