The Bollywood movie Garam Masala focused on Akshay Kumar and John Abraham and rightly so. Afterall, the two actors had aced comedy, especially when paired up together. Garam Masala was just another film that proved they can make people laugh when collaborating for a movie. However, one character that people tend to overlook is that of Paresh Rawal.
While Akshay, a playboy, tried to handle his relationship with three models, Paresh as an honest servant covers up for him till he literally cannot. Here's why he is the most underrated character in the film...
Coolest character in the movie:
Right from his introduction scene, Mambo (Paresh) makes demands. When Mac (Akshay) hints about girls coming to his place, Mambo says he doesn't have a care in the world if his demands are met. That is one character who was epic way before its time.
Doesn't care about guests either:
Who hasn't been pissed off with guests? Mambo has no qualms in telling his guests off, even if it costs him his job. Savage indeed.
Demands respect:
All Mambo really wants is respect. When Mac shows him respect, he is ready to work for him. Not just work, Mambo even saves Mac from tough situations because he gets respect in return.
Realizes what his job has become and demands a raise:
"Jo main kaam kar raha hoon na, usko kuch aur kehte hai jo main kehna nahi chahta," Mambo tells Mac. He realizes the job is too much and demands a raise but settles because of Mac.
Doesn't care about his employer's friend either:
When Shyam (John) visits Mac's house, Mambo tells him that he can leave if he has not yet unpacked his bags. This shows Mambo doesn't care even h for hospitality which is a trait very few have.
Forgets stuff that doesn't concern him:
"Yahan jo hota hai main apne aap ko bhi nahi batata," Mambo tells Shyam. He hints that he pretends to not see or bother about what happens in the house.
Defines people by the work he has to do for them:
He has nothing to do with people which is visible through the scene where Mac tries to introduce his uncle to Mambo. However, for Mambo, that person is nothing more than someone who will drink tea. "Chai peene wala," he defines the uncle and gets back to work. This proves that he doesn't care to meet people but just cares about his work.
Walks out the minute he is disrespected:
Setting another example of just how people should live their life, Mambo walks out the minute he is disrespected. While that applies to people in their personal lives, Mambo did it in his professional life too.
Mambo is the character nobody thought the gen Z would become. He was ahead-of-its-time and is nothing less than a gem today.
