Indrajit Lankesh has quite a heavy weight on his shoulders. Not only is he back in the director’s chair, but this time, he’s also got production duties along with his wife, Arpita, for a film in which they are introducing their firstborn, Samarjit. Called Gowri, the film is currently in post-production stage, but Indrajit has already begun a promotional spree for it.

Shakeela maker Indrajit Lankesh to launch his son Samarjit

As the bigger name on the credits, the filmmaker and media personality has been doing a bunch of interviews with influencers, wherein he has talked about the responsibility of launching his son, but remained mum about the subject he’s set to present on screen. Earlier today, he had an event to launch a pre-teaser, cutting which, he said, was tough, because he has to showcase his son, without giving away anything about the film.

Indrajit Lankesh: My next film is called Gauri as a tribute to my late sister

So, what he did was put together glimpses of Samarjit the action hero, including a shot of the youngster’s chiselled abs. A theatre studies graduate, who then did a brief course in acting at the New York Film Academy, besides training in dance and acting skills, Samarjit, says Indrajit, has come prepared for the job at hand. The film’s heroine, Saanya Iyer, has been acting since she was a child, so, the filmmaker was not dealing with complete novices.

While Indrajit has had his share of ups and downs as a filmmaker, Gowri will be his best work yet, he reckons. During the muhurtha of the film, Indrajit had said that the film is based on true events and is a tribute to his late sister, but is not her life story. The film also has Sanjana Anand on board, while Tanya Hope has done a special number.

In his film career spanning over two decades, Indrajit Lankesh has to his credit movies like Thuntata, Monalisa, Aishwarya, Shakeela, among others and is the filmmaker who introduced Deepika Padukone to cinema.
