Govind Padmasoorya gets engaged to Gopika Anil in an intimate ceremony

Govind Padmasoorya shared the news of his engagement to Gopika Anil on social media, revealing that their relationship was family-initiated

Popular television presenter and actor Govind Padmasoorya has surprised his fans with the news of his engagement. The bride-to-be is none other than actress Gopika Anil, who is best known for her performance in popular Malayalam serial Santhwanam. Govind has shared pictures of the engagement ceremony on social media. It was a private affair, attended by only close family members.

Govind wore a lavender sherwani and turban, while Gopika Anil looked beautiful in a rose lehenga and jewellery. Sharing the engagement photos on social media, Govind wrote, “Happy to share that we are getting engaged on the auspicious day of Ashtami. This is a family initiated relation which slowly blossomed as we interacted with each other.” Celebrities like Mia, Srinish Aravind, Malavika C Menon and Saniya Iyappan were quick to congratulate the couple with their heartfelt notes.

Govind and Gopika’s career so far

Govind, who is also known as GP, made his first appearance via a music video, following which he entered the film industry. He made his acting debut with director MG Shashi’s 2008 film Atayalangal. Govind then went on to act in over 15 Malayalam films - including Daddy Cool Pretham and Shefeekinte Santhoshangal. Additionally, he also acted in the Tamil film Kee and three Telugu films. He rose to fame after appearing as an anchor in the reality show D4Dance, and has also hosted many other shows.

Gopika, on the other hand, marked her debut in Malayalam cinema as a child artiste in Mohanlal’s Balettan. She later starred in several serials, including Kabani. But her breakthrough came with her role as Anjali in Santhwanam garnering her a huge fanbase.
