Good Luck Sakhi: With a good release date, is there a happy ending on cards?

The sports comedy, starring Keerthy Suresh, Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu, is finally hitting theatres on January 28 after multiple release delays

All's well that ends well. At least, this is something that the team behind Good Luck Sakhi would be hoping for, after finally arriving at a release date amid regular postponements over the last few months. The sports comedy that marks the Telugu debut of Nagesh Kukunoor features Keerthy Suresh, Aadhi Pinisetty, Ramaprabha, Rahul Ramakrishna and Jagapathi Babu in lead roles. The film is all set to hit theatres on January 28.

From a change of producer to shooting woes to budget issues and the regular confusions between OTT/theatrical release, the makers of Good Luck Sakhi have experienced a whirlwind of emotions over the last few years. It's only fair that all these efforts of hanging onto the film leave them with a good aftertaste. In terms of release timing, Good Luck Sakhi is actually well placed.

With no signs of major lockdowns or theatre closure in Telugu states, small film producers have heaved a sigh of relief. With the next major Telugu release only being Ravi Teja's Khiladi on February 11, Good Luck Sakhi has a good couple of weeks to grow over audiences, provided the story lives up to expectations. Names like Keerthy Suresh, Nagesh Kukunoor enjoy a minimum-guarantee trust among audiences and one hopes they don't disappoint.

The film has a strong supporting cast with the likes of Aadhi Pinisetty, Jagapathi Babu, Ramaprabha and Rahul Ramakrishna to hold fort. The added advantage is of course the presence of Devi Sri Prasad as a composer. Given that sports films are also in vogue in Telugu cinema in the recent past and that Good Luck Sakhi also comes with a lot of situation humour, should ideally work well.

The shooting backdrop hasn't been utilised much in regional sports films, which could add to its freshness. Whether Sakhi has a good ending or not in the film, the makers would hope for one in reality.
