Director Rohit Shetty and actor Ajay Devgn are riding high on the success of their recently released movie, Singham Again. The third installment of the Singham franchise became the biggest-opening film of Ajay's career. Following Singham Again's success, Rohit and Ajay are ready to reunite for a new project. In an interview with Pinkvilla, filmmaker Rohit recently shared a big update about Golmaal 5.

Golmaal is one of the most loved comic film franchises in the Hindi film industry. Rohit confirmed that the fifth installment of the comic caper will soon begin. During an entertainment portal's Masterclass, Shetty mentioned that before he works on any cop film, he will commence work on Golmaal 5.

"I think before any cop film for sure Golmaal will be the next," said Rohit. The filmmaker added that he enjoys working on a movie like Golmaal after making an action-packed cop drama, Singham Again. Rohit mentioned that he would be happy to work on Golmaal 5 due to its light subject

"I look forward like whenever it's such a big Singham after Singham. I want to be in that world where it is lighter and happier and I'm not worried," added Rohit.

About Golmaal franchise

Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty made the first Golmaal film in 2006. Starring Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Sharman Joshi, the movie had a theatrical release on July 14, 2006. Following Golmaal's success, Rohit directed Golmaal Returns in 2008. It was followed by the theatrical releases of Golmaal 3 in 2010 and Golmaal Again (fourth installment) in 2017.

Seven years down the line, the filmmaker confirmed that he will begin working on Golmaal 5 with Ajay soon. As for their latest project, Singham Again has worked wonders at the box office. It has earned Rs 173 crore after 8 days of its theatrical release. The cop drama will premiere on Amazon Prime Video after its cinematic run ends.
