The Preetham Gubbi directorial was initially scheduled for Christmas 2022, but was then pushed ahead and is yet to fix a date with audiences
If everything had gone as per plan, Baanadaariyalli, which is Golden Star Ganesh’s fourth collaboration with director Preetham Gubbi, would have been in theatres for Christmas last year. But for reasons best known to the team, it was pushed ahead without an alternate date. Subsequently, in February and March, Preetham released a couple of songs in the hope of bringing his film to the theatres, but had no luck and then, it got pushed further ahead owing to the state elections, among other factors.
Now that the election is over and results expected by the weekend, we checked in with Preetham if the film is likely to release soon. “We have not decided on a date, but we are favouring June to release the film. Producer Jayanna and distributors KRG Studios will finalize it after the election results on Sunday, so, in a week’s time, we should have some clarity,” says Preetham.
The filmmaker tells us that he is looking at releasing the trailer and two more songs in the run-up to the theatrical outing. “We are looking at 20-25 days of solid promotions before the release. Right now, Rukmini Vasanth, who is one of the leads of the film is busy with other commitments, so we should be able to get started once she gets free. We are trying to figure out the publicity strategy also, because spending a lot of money on big events does not guarantee people coming to the theatre. That will depend entirely on the word-of-mouth feedback that comes after the first show,” reasons Preetham.
The film, which the director describes as ‘Not a love story, but a story about love’, also stars Reeshma Nanaiah and Rangayana Raghu in pivotal roles and has Ganesh playing a cricketer.
