The duo has worked on Maleyali Jotheyali, Dil Rangeela and 99 in the past.
Golden Star Ganesh and filmmaker Preetham Gubbi have not only worked on three films together, but also share a beautiful friendship spanning more than two decades. The duo, who last worked together on the 2019 film 99 (the Kannada remake of the Tamil hit 96), were classmates at a Film & TV institute in Bengaluru back in 1999. So, when news broke that the duo might be collaborating yet again, it was not surprising after all.
Preetham has not only directed Ganesh thrice – Maleyali Jotheyali, Dil Rangeela and 99 – but also penned the script of one of the Golden Star’s biggest hits ever, Mungaru Male. According to the latest buzz, Preetham has written a story meant for Ganesh and is currently in pre-production, giving finishing touches to the script. The as-yet-untitled film, which is likely to be officially announced shortly, will be Ganesh’s next project. The actor is currently busy hosting the television show Golden Gang and is awaiting the release of Tribble Riding and Gaalipata 2. Ganesh’s last release was the Suni directorial Sakath and while the duo is committed to yet another collaboration, reports suggest that Preetham’s film will take off first.
In an earlier interaction with the media about his friendship with Preetham, Ganesh had said that the two of them had a routine every weekend. Either they would take off to KG Road (Majestic area), the hub of Kannada cinema and catch the latest releases, or they’d head to the Bengaluru University campus to play cricket. “1999 was a formative year for me, as far as my career as an actor goes, but it was also the start of a beautiful friendship that has endured two decades and is still going strong,” Ganesh had said.
