'Go to China', Sandeep Reddy Vanga tells Animal critics, says Prabhas' Spirit, Animal Park will trigger more criticism

Despite facing criticism, Sandeep Reddy Vanga finds solace in the growing popularity of his films, evident in the box office success of Animal.

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga appears to be deeply disturbed by the wave of criticism directed at his latest film, Animal, from notable critics nationwide. He has vehemently responded, accusing them of harbouring bias against his work. "There is a clear hatred towards the filmmaker rather than the film," he claimed.

Sandeep also claimed that he was not completely averse to accepting constructive criticism for his films. However, for that to happen, he must feel that the intentions of a critic are honest and not biased. "I can understand when people genuinely feel that I could tone down the violence in my films, but when you attack the intention of the filmmaker it becomes bizarre," he said during an interview with Connect FM Canada.

Despite facing criticism, Sandeep finds solace in the growing popularity of his films, evident in their box office success. "I don't make films to cater to a select few. I don't think I will ever do that," he declared.

Sandeep addressed the controversy surrounding the provocative gesture in Ranbir Kapoor's character, initially seen as his response to critics, Sandeep clarified that it wasn't his intention. Instead, he explained that he wanted to leave the audience with a lingering thought, setting the stage for a sequel titled Animal Park.

Sandeep also alleged that some critics are cherry-picking only a few things from his films that they deem problematic and talk about it, while rarely paying attention to the craft that goes into making these films. "All these critics should go to China. You know the most happening thing in China is English tuition. They are good with English so that they could go and tutor there. Other than new English words in their reviews, you don't find anything else," ranted Sandeep.

Sandeep acknowledged that criticism against Animal was affecting its box office potential. Despite the wave of criticism, within 20 days of its release, Animal has sold more than Rs 500 crore worth of tickets in India alone.

"Despite giving elaborate explanations (post the release of Kabir Singh), they don't even try to analyse the film. They talk about only two or three things. After Animal, I realized that it would be there for all my films. It's alright. The criticism will intensify even more for Spirit and Animal Park," he noted.

While Spirit will be a cop film starring Telugu superstar Prabhas, Animal Park will continue the narrative from Animal.
