Girija Shettar, of course, returns to don the role after a gap of 30 years, much to the delight of her admirers.
It emerged very recently that the makers of Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali, the upcoming film produced by Rakshit Shetty's Paramvah Studios, have cast a yesteryear actress for a key role in the film. The actress' identity was to be revealed on August 11 and even though speculations have been rife, so to speak, about this for quite some time, one still looked forward to the announcement with some curiosity. Just as promised, team Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali and Paramvah Studios are here with the special update.
And just as expected, actress Girija Shettar makes an endearing comeback to the world of acting to play the aforementioned key role. Girija Shettar, who is best known for essaying the titular character in Mani Ratnam's Geethanjali, returns to don the role after a gap of 30 years, much to the delight of her admirers.
"Timeless n iconic @GirijaShettar! #ibbaniTabbidaIleyali
ಇಬ್ಬನಿ ತಬ್ಬಿದ ಇಳೆಯಲಿ 🤍 Working with ma'am has been an experience to savor. The way she infused life into the character of #Madhumitha was a sheer delight! She returns to cinema after 30 years❤️" wrote Chandrajith Belliappa, the writer-director of Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali, in his Twitter post.
Girija Shettar, of course, rose to immediate prominence following the release of Geethanjali. Her vivacious character, combined with her onscreen chemistry with Akkineni Nagarjuna, the music and Mani Ratnam's musings, won her a lot of fame and attention, including the opportunity to make it to magazine covers. Following this, she would star in two Malayalam films alongside Mohanlal - Vandanam and Dhanushkodi - but the latter film remains unreleased to date. Girija's last starring role came in the year 1992 in the Telugu film Hrudayanjali which, due to myriad reasons, was released almost a decade later.
She did make a tiny cameo appearance in the 2003 film Tujhe Meri Kasam (as herself), starring Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza.
Coming to Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali, the film's promotional material so far evokes a feeling that it's a tender love story at heart. Vihan and Ankita Amar star as leads with Mayuri Nataraj playing a prominent role.
