Payal Rajput, Sunny Leone play other important roles in the film directed by Eeshaan Suryaah
Ginna, Vishnu Manchu's production that was also headlined by him, had hit theatres in October for Diwali and surprisingly earned decent responses from the media, despite not setting the box office on fire. Payal Rajput and Sunny Leone played other pivotal roles in the entertainer helmed by Srinu Vaitla's former associate Eeshaan Suryaah (who also directed Gangster Gangaraju earlier). G Nageswara Reddy and Kona Venkat jointly worked on the story and the screenplay for the film.
After its theatrical run, now the film is streaming on OTT. Amazon Prime Video had acquired the digital rights of the comic caper set in Chittoor district and began streaming the film on Friday i.e. December 2. Raghu Babu, Naresh, Suresh, Vennela Kishore, Annapurnamma and others too play important roles in the film that had music by Anup Rubens. Cinematographed by Chota K Naidu, the flick also had Vishnu Manchu's daughters Ariana and Viviana making their singing debut.
The story of Ginna revolves around Gaali Nageswara Rao, Swathi and Renuka, three childhood friends in Rangampeta. Given Renuka is a mute girl, Ginna comes to her rescue whenever she requires help. Few unfortunate circumstances force Renuka and her father to leave for the US. Many years later, Ginna runs a tent house business for a living and is in heavy debt. His crisis coincides with Renuka’s return to Rangampeta. How will Ginna’s fortunes change with her arrival? This forms the crux of the story.
OTTplay.com in its review of Ginna wrote, "Watch Ginna with an open mind; chances are that you’ll return home reasonably satisfied as a viewer. Of course, nothing about the film is subtle and this isn't high-quality art. It’s not a bad time to make way for ‘keep your brains outside the cinema hall’ genre again in Telugu." There are enough twists and turns in the story and a good dose of comedy to keep you glued to the screens. Ginna, simply put, is a not-so-bad, escapist fun.
