Ahead of the OTT release of 'Ghost', MG Srinivas talks about involving Shiva Rajkumar's character in Birbal 2.
The collision of the two worlds of Birbal and Ghost has certainly allowed writer-director MG Srinivas to explore newer and bigger narrative angles, especially when he is conceiving a multiverse, of sorts, involving both storylines. Having already hinted at how the two narratives will interact with one another in the recently released Ghost, MG Srinivas, or Srini, is now focusing on the much-awaited second instalment of the Birbal franchise, Birbal 2. He will be also reprising the titular role in the film aside from handling both its scripting and direction, but unlike the first instalment, the stakes seem higher in the case of the sequel.
What we refer to is Shiva Rajkumar's involvement in Birbal 2 and also how his character will shape the narrative of the multiverse. In a recent conversation with OTTplay, Srini confirmed that Shivanna's 'Ghost' character will certainly be a part of the upcoming Birbal film but with a caveat that he is currently not in a position to discuss in what capacity he will be involved.
"See, at this point, I am not in a position to tell you exactly how it will happen because we are still exploring these possibilities in the writing stage. But I can tell you this much the Ghost character will be part of the Birbal universe and it will enter the fray at an important point. The idea, of course, is to make sure that it's not any random cameo but an impactful one, so, we are figuring out how the character gets involved in Birbal's world and how his involvement will lead to Ghost 2. Also, you have to make sure that Shivanna's entry happens at that peak point and becomes a whistle-worthy moment. You have to include certain twists, turns to make it epic," says MG Srinivas.
Ghost 2, of course, is a sequel in the planning which will take off from where Ghost was concluded, meaning that it will answer and solve several of the loose ends of the first part. MG Srinivas recently confirmed that the sequel, among many things, will mainly explore Dalavayi, his son's involvement in the present heist case and how the heist was pulled off in the first place. In the same vein, he is also super keen on exploring a prequel featuring the same Dalavayi character, meaning that the storyline could be explored from several different angles as it slowly converges towards one specific centre.
Ghost, on the other hand, which also stars Jayaram, Prashanth Narayanan, Archana Jois and others, is set to premiere on Zee5 on November 17. Here's OTTplay's review of the film:
