Shiva Rajkumar is arguably the busiest actor working in today Kannada Film Industry today with more than 10 projects, tentatively, to his name
A flurry of updates made its way out on Shiva Rajkumar's 61st birthday on July 12 and the internet is just unable to keep calm. While the day marked the release of the first teaser of MG Srinivas' heist thriller Ghost, wherein Shivanna plays the lead role, the actor's fans were also treated to a wide array of updates on the day which included multiple new and exciting announcements.
One among them is concerning the sequel to the cult classic Tagaru and the makers took to social media to announce, or rather hint, that the film is very much on the cards.
Popular film producer KP Sreekanth, who had previously backed Tagaru in 2018, took to social media to share a new poster which boldly demands our attention. 'ATTENTION, HE IS COMING BACK,' reads the poster which carries the iconic image of Shivanna facing a big ram (also the poster of the 2018 film).
Though it explicitly does not mention 'Tagaru 2', fans and netizens are now convinced that the sequel is on the cards, after all.
It would seem that Tagaru 2 will be a joint production of KP Sreekanth and G. Manoharan of Lahari Films. The duo has already bankrolled two projects in the form of Upendra's UI and Kiccha Sudeep's nephew Sanchith Sanjeev's launchpad Jimmy. The team of UI has dedicated a special video tribute to Shiva Rajkumar, which was released earlier today on July 12.
In Tagaru, Shiva Rajkumar played the role of DCP Aditya, a righteous police officer known for his unconventional methods of dealing with crimes. His performance in the film, which saw him traverse the gritty and violent underworld setting, was widely appreciated and his on-screen chemistry with the entire cast of the film, including Dhananjaya, Vasishta N. Simha, Bhavana Menon and Manvitha, too, won the hearts of the audience.
Tagaru became a major success during its theatrical run and was one of the biggest hits of 2018.
Alongside, it has now emerged that another sequel featuring Shiva Rajkumar in the lead is currently in development. The film is titled IV Returns or Inspector Vikram Returns, meaning that it marks the comeback of the famous character that the Century Star played in the 1989 film Inspector Vikram. Laki Gopal directs the sequel with Mylari M named as the producer.
