The latest sports drama from director R Balki, Ghoomer, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, received favorable reviews from critics during its premiere, but regrettably, it did not have a strong start. Only Rs 85 lakhs were collected by Ghoomer on Friday.

It is obvious that the extremely successful box office performances of Gadar 2 and OMG 2 last week have significantly outperformed and impacted Ghoomer's business. Abhishek's last theatrical release prior to Ghoomer was Manmarziyaan (2018) by Anurag Kashyap.

On Saturday, the domestic box office brought in 1.20 crore for Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher. The movie came out just a week after Gadar 2 and OMG 2, both of which have been doing well in theaters.

Amitabh Bachchan, the megastar and father of actor Abhishek Bachchan, also discussed the film. He recently posted the following on his blog: "It is beyond all doubt that Ghoomer is a very superior film ... I say this as a Father yes, but also as a long-standing member of this fantastic fraternity .. at this young age Abhishek and in the duration of the time you have been in the Industry, you have played the most complex characters with immense conviction, diversity and aplomb .. each one difficult, different and each .. successful ."

Abhishek Bachchan has seen both failure and success at the box office since his debut in 2000. He mentioned the importance of box office results in a recent interview with Free Press Journal. He said, “If you aren’t viable at the box office, you won’t get work. Being underrated as an actor doesn’t solve the purpose if tickets aren’t being sold.”
