Genelia D’Souza was not a part of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na initially, Imran Khan reveals recording Kabhi Kabhi Aditi with another actress

Every millennial who is a Bollywood lover cannot even begin to imagine Kabhi Kabhi Aditi or for that matter, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na without Rats and Aditi aka Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza. However, that was a reality at one point. Imran had shot for the song without Genelia and almost started working on the movie with another actress. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about how Genelia and his uncle Aamir Khan came on board for the movie.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na same as the script

Calling himself extremely lucky, Imran told Ishq FM that the original script by Abbas (Tyrewala) was exactly carried out in the film. He further adds that Abbas made sure that everyone follows the dialogue exactly and there wasn’t anything they could do about it.

Imran then goes on to reveal that Kabhi Kabhi Aditi almost didn’t happen with Genelia. He recalls signing the film when Johnny Gaddar and Gulaal had started shooting. Jaane Tu was in pre-production at the time, but their first song, Kabhi Kabhi Aditi, was recorded. “Our cast was completely different at the time. Genelia was not in the film at that point. It was a different actress,” Imran said, adding that some actors back then were also different.

The cast had started their rehearsals, but there was unsurety whether Jaane Tu will actually go on floors, owing to financial crunches. Johnny Gaddar and Gulaal were priority at that point. Jaane Tu was stalled for nearly nine months, thus the actors moved on to other projects. When it was just him and Abbas on the movie, they tried to rope in more producers. Most of them, however, wanted an established actor in the movie as a part of the deal. Abbas, on the other hand, was adamant to launch a new face with the film. Abbas then reached out to Aamir, but Imran was confused and asked his mamu why would he venture into a romantic film. “He’s not driven by intellect, he’s driven by heart,” Imran says about Aamir, adding that is a trait he adapted from him. The movie was then completed within two years.
