The star-studded cast of Disney+ UK’s upcoming web series, Culprits, just got bigger and brighter. It was announced that Gemma Arterton and Kirby Howell-Baptiste are the latest stars to come on board for the heist show.
According to a report by Variety, Arterton and Kirby Howell-Baptiste will essay the roles of characters called Dianne and Officer respectively. The principal photography of the series has already begun.
Culprits will revolve around the story of a group of criminals who specialise in conducting heists. In the aftermath of one of their crimes, they find themselves being targeted by a murderer who starts to kill the members of the group one by one. The series is touted to a black comedy heist series.
Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, most recently seen in the 2021 slasher film Candyman, will essay the role of the series’ protagonist, Joe. Other cast members include Niamh Algar, Kamel El Basha, debutante Tara Abboud, Kevin Vidal, Ned Dennehy and Eddie Izzard.Morenike Williams, known for their work on Killing Eve, will serve as a producer on the show.
The upcoming series is one of the first original series to be announced by Disney+ UK. J Blakeson, known for his films such as I Care a Lot (2020) and The 5th Wave (2016). He has created the series and will also direct the first five episodes. He and Arterton had previously collaborated for the 2009 film, The Disappearance of Alice Creed.
Meanwhile, Arterton was recently seen in The King's Man and is now awaiting the release of her films, The Amazing Maurice and Freegard. Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who is best known for her role in The Good Place, is awaiting the release of her projects, The Sandman and Catwoman: Hunted.
