Gehraiyaan, a relationship drama that promises to explore the complexities and nuances of romantic relationships, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The Deepika Padukone starrer film will hit a major OTT platform in the second week of February.

What is Gehraiyaan about?

Gehraiyaan follows the story of 30-year-old Alisha Khanna, who finds herself frustrated with the mundanity of her personal and professional life. Her resentment also causes rifts between her and her partner, Karan.

Her life takes a turn when she goes on holiday with her cousin Tia and Zain, Tia’s fiancé. As Alisha starts spending more time with the latter, the two grow closer and develop a bond over their mutual dissatisfaction with where they are in their lives. This eventually leads to an affair between the two, which threatens to do irreparable damage to their current relationships.

Who are the cast and crew behind Gehraiyaan?

Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa will essay the roles of Alisha, Zain, Tia, and Karan, respectively. Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur are also essaying pivotal roles.

The upcoming film is directed by Shakun Batra and bankrolled under the banners of Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Jouska Films. Batra has also penned the film’s script along with Sumit Roy and Ayesha Devitre.

Batra had recently talked about what his vision for the film was. In conversation with Scroll, the director opened up about how he wanted to tell a story showcasing the complexities of romantic relationships, told simply. The director also responded to claims that the film "glorified infidelity," saying that he takes no stance when it comes to the subjects of monogamy and non-monogamy through his film.
