Actor Geetanjali Kulkarni shares her experience of playing the role of Dean Saadhna Sharma in Dice Media's Operation MBBS Season 2.
Operation MBBS Season 2 is the first show to have included the plight of medical warriors who’ve dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic in India. This season of Operation MBBS is the story of four students in India’s best MBBS college, struggling in the midst of the pandemic. Starring in the series as Dean Saadhna Sharma, actor Geetanjali Kulkarni shared her experience of shooting the second season.
Geetanjali Kulkarni, known for her incredible performance as Shanti in Gullak featured in Operation MBBS as the college dean. Though her role had limited screen time in the first season, the second season has been a game-changer for her. It follows her character arc when she emerges as the leader of the college’s frontline warriors who are on COVID-19 duty. Kulkarni’s faith in a director as experienced and learned as Amrit Raj Gupta made her instantly agree to playing this role.
Elaborating on how the second season of Dice Media’s Operation MBBS is significant for her, the actress revealed that working with Amrit Raj Gupta is a delightful experience because he brings compassion and maturity to the set.
“When Amrit approached me for Season 2, I instantly gave my nod. It is always a pleasure working with him, be it for Gullak or Operation MBBS. He brings in a lot of compassion and maturity on the sets which is truly commendable,” she said.
Discussing future plans, Kulkarni also expressed her desire to work with Meghna Gulzar, Vishal Bhardwaj, Shriram Raghavan, Anurag Kashyap and Raju Hirani someday. The actress, who is looking forward to transitioning to long format roles like the one in Dice Media’s Operation MBBS remarked that digital platforms are the future of watching, with digital spaces being extremely liberal and welcoming to new talent.
Operation MBBS also stars Sarah Hashmi and Ayush Mehra. The second season of this series premiered on Dice Media’s YouTube channel on March 15 and was shot during the pandemic.
