Gautham Menon announces Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu with Silambarasan TR with an intriguing poster

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu marks third collaboration of Gautham Menon, Simbu and AR Rahman,

Silambarasan TR aka Simbu has announced his forthcoming film which reunites the actor with Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film is titled Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu and the first look poster is out. The intriguing photo features Simbu in a never-seen-before avatar posing in a leaner look. The poster seems to be CGI filled where the actor is seen in an unbuttoned white shirt covered in mud and a lungi.

Simbu is gazing into the camera while holding a long bamboo stick with a sickle on the edge and standing against a backdrop of burning ground.

He captioned it as "#VendhuThanindhathuKaadu, Directed by @menongautham. An @arrahman musical & Produced by @VelsFilmIntl #VTK #SilambarasanTR."

This is the third outing of Simbu and Gautham after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. It also marks their collaboration with AR Rahman.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is considered a cult classic film in Tamil wherein Simbu co-starred opposite Trisha Krishnan. It's been more than a decade since the film was released and still, it has become a talking point. The unrequited and incomplete love story worked wonders and people loved the fact that it didn't have a happy ending for Karthik and Jessie (a Tamilian boy and a Malayali Christian girl). The songs composed by Rahman are still crooned by the fans and considered as one of his best works in the past few years.

Although the film was remade in two other languages by Gautham, it didn't match up to Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.

Simbu collaborated with GVM for the second time in the 2016 release Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada in which the actor was paired opposite Manjima Mohan. The film didn't have that impact as Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa but received a positive response from the fans and critics alike.

Earlier, Gautham has been filming yet another film with Simbu titled Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan. Ishari Ganesh who is producing the projects had confirmed it during an interview.

He said, "I've signed two films with Simbu, both of which will be directed by Gautham Menon. AR Rahman is composing the music for both films. He has completed the songs for the film."
