After making a mark in web series like Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein and Dr. Arora actress Apurva Singh was recently seen as a curious character in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s political thriller TV series Garmi, streaming on SonyLIV. In a candid chat with OTTplay, Apurva opens up about her experience of working with the National Award-winning actor-director-dialogue writer, her take on OTT platforms and more.
Speaking about her experience of working with Tigmanshu, Apurva said, “Reflecting on my experience of working with Tigmanshu Dhulia on the set of Garmi the first thing that comes to mind is overwhelming. From the first day of filming, I felt as though I was in the presence of Irrfan Khan, with every shot and location meticulously planned to perfection. In fact, the settings were reminiscent of the iconic scenes in Paan Singh Tomar, a testament to Tigmanshu’s keen eye for detail and artistry.”
According to the actress - who was seen as Sakshi Rai in Garmi - working with Tigmanshu was an absolute pleasure. “His passion for his craft was evident in every aspect of the production - from his exceptional direction to his unwavering commitment to bringing out the best in each actor. One of the most thrilling aspects of the creative process was the spontaneity that came with it. I’ll never forget the rush of adrenaline I felt as I received new poems just an hour before my shot, allowing me to embrace my creativity and deliver a performance that was truly unique,” she elaborated, adding, “Overall, working on the set of Garmi was an experience that left me feeling truly alive. The challenges were great, but so were the rewards. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a part of such a phenomenal project and consider it one of the most remarkable moments in my career as an actor.”

Next, Apurva will feature in projects like Dhanaabad and Rafuchakkar. When asked about her take on OTT, the actress said, “As an actor who has recently started working in the industry, I have been contemplating the advantages and disadvantages of working in the world of OTT versus the big screen. While a big screen debut would undoubtedly be a dream come true, I also understand that it is not always possible for everyone, especially those without any connections or a godfather in the industry. Nevertheless, my ultimate goal remains to make my mark in the industry with my work. I firmly believe that hard work and dedication will pave the way for recognition from directors and producers, regardless of the platform. The beauty of OTT lies in the fact that it provides a level playing field, allowing new talent to showcase their skills and reach a wider audience, something that may not be possible on the big screen initially.”
Any actor or director that she aspires to work with? “As an actor, I am constantly inspired by the work of my peers and the industry veterans. I have long admired the immense talent of actors such as Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan, and it would be a dream come true to work alongside them on a project. Their passion, dedication, and commitment to their craft have been an inspiration to me throughout my journey,” she elaborated.

Furthermore, I find the world of Malayalam cinema incredibly fascinating and inspiring. I aspire to work in that industry, which has produced some of the most outstanding films in recent times,” Apurva sums up.
